Teams & clubs

Creating a team or club

How a team differs from a club, and how to create either one in the app or the web dashboard.

VolleyFit has two levels: the team (often called a “group” in the app) for a single squad, and the club as an umbrella over several teams. You can create both yourself for free.

Team or club – which do you need?

If you coach a single squad, a team is all you need. If several squads belong together, a club is worth it – you then place the teams underneath it.

Creating a team

  1. In the app, open the Teams tab and choose Teams at the top.
  2. Tap + (Create) at the bottom. New group opens.
  3. Optionally pick an image, then enter a Group name.
  4. Add a Description (optional) if you like.
  5. Choose the Sport. Besides volleyball there are handball, basketball, soccer and more.
  6. Optional: link the team to a club under Assign club (optional).
  7. Check the Season start (default: 1 September). It decides what counts as “this season” in statistics.
  8. Tap Create.

Create only becomes active once name and sport are filled in. You are then the team’s coach and can invite members straight away.

All your squads are listed under Teams – this is also where you create new ones.

Creating a club

  1. Open the Teams tab and switch to Club at the top.
  2. Tap +. New club opens.
  3. Optionally pick a club logo and enter the Club name.
  4. Add a Description (optional) if you like.
  5. Tap Create.

You are then admin and coach of the club.

Adding teams to a club

There are three ways to place a team under a club:

  • When creating it: pick the club under Assign club (optional). Only clubs where you may create groups are offered (by default as club coach or admin).
  • Linking an existing team: open the club page. In the Link your groups section, tap Link next to the team and confirm. You need permission to create groups in the club and to edit the team.
  • In the web dashboard via Link teams (see below).

Good to know:

  • All team members automatically become club members.
  • If the club has premium, it applies to the team as well. A separate team subscription is then replaced.
  • By default a club can have up to 20 teams.

Detaching a team: long-press the team on the club page and choose Detach from club. The Keep members in club switch decides whether the members stay in the club. If it is off, members who are in no other club team are removed from the club. The team loses the club’s premium.

In the web dashboard

You can also create teams and clubs in the web dashboard:

  1. Open the team/club selector at the top left.
  2. Click + Club or + Team at the bottom.
  3. Enter a name and confirm.

You’ll also find Create club and Create team in the search (⌘K).

With a whole club selected, you can use Groups to Create team directly (with description, sport and season start), or attach existing teams with Link teams.
